Victor Lloyd Ettredge, a bomber pilot who survived a German prisoner of war camp and later went on to a successful engineering career at NASA, died Dec. 26 of prostate cancer. He was 83. Ettredge's B-17 was shot down in the waning days of World War II and he spent several months in POW camps, including time at Buchenwald, which doubled as a notorious concentration camp.
